SpaceXSI, the Grok maker formerly called xAI and now part of SpaceX, released Grok Voice 3.0, a voice model that replies in under a second and copes with interruptions. The company says it ranks first on Artificial Analysis’s speech-to-speech index. It powers Grok’s voice mode and Tesla cars, and businesses can build phone agents with it for 8 US cents a minute. SpaceXSI says it already handles about 20,000 Starlink support calls a day.
Why it matters to you: Talking to an AI on the phone is becoming normal, and for small businesses an AI that answers calls is getting cheaper and better.
Try this: Use voice mode in Grok, ChatGPT or Gemini to rehearse a tricky conversation out loud.
Role-play a customer who is upset about a late delivery. I run the business. Interrupt me if I ramble, then tell me what I did well and what to improve.
