DeepSeek posted DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017 on Hugging Face under the MIT licence, which allows commercial use. The company calls it a minor update to V4 Flash with better reasoning, coding and agent results, plus shorter answers that cost less to run. The model has 763 billion total parameters and can take in up to one million tokens at once, enough for several long books.
Why it matters to you: Strong open models keep pressure on prices across the industry and give businesses a capable model they can run and adapt on their own terms.
