OpenAI updated the ChatGPT extension for Google Chrome so it can see your open tabs and act in them: send messages, fill in forms, download files and group tabs, all from a new sidebar. It is available from the Chrome Web Store. OpenAI has not said which plans or countries get every feature.
Why it matters to you: AI assistants are moving from answering questions to doing tasks for you in the browser. That saves time, but it also means checking what the assistant is about to do before it does it.
Try this: If you try it, start with a low-stakes chore and watch each step.
Look at my open tabs and group them by topic. Tell me your plan before you act, and do not submit any form or send anything without asking me first.
