Anthropic, the maker of Claude, signed a long-term lease at EverWind’s planned C$10 billion data centre campus at Point Tupper, near Port Hawkesbury in Cape Breton. A first 95-megawatt phase is due in late 2027, with an expansion to 420 MW targeted for 2028, subject to regulatory approval. EverWind says the project includes C$2 billion for onshore wind, about 2,000 construction jobs and 215 permanent ones, and that it will pay for its own power infrastructure so electricity customers don’t. Premier Tim Houston backs it; the NDP says it needs firm rules.
