# Canada adds $500 million to help businesses adopt AI

Ottawa added $500 million over five years to its Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative, bringing the total to $700 million.

Ottawa added $500 million over five years to its Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative, bringing the total to $700 million. The money flows through regional development agencies to help businesses start using AI and to help Canadian AI companies grow. In southern Ontario, applications are open until January 19, 2027.

**Why it matters to you:** If you run a small or medium business in Canada, there is now federal help to pay for getting started with AI.

**Try this:** Search for the Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative and contact the development agency for your region. Then ask an AI assistant to help you list three tasks in your business it could take off your plate.
